I do not know if this was a good idea for Republicans. In an election year, the Republicans decided to block debate on the proposed Democrat bill to prevent an increased interest rate on student loans. Maybe the Republicans should remember that students will be voting in the upcoming elections as well. Though most of them, at this point in time, back Republican GOP candidate Ron Paul, this may end up swaying many students toward the Democratic party. GOP (Republican) senators state that they want to vote on their own version of the bill, eliminating one of Obama's health care reforms. Do you really think the Democrats or President Obama will go for that? This was a blunder by the Republicans, and if they do not come up with a student loan reform act soon, there could be many out of a job and it could even cost Romney the election.
