What she found was that a serving of Nutella actually has 21 grams of sugar, 200 calories and 11 grams of fat. Basically, this woman proposed a class action lawsuit against Nutella's maker, Ferraro USA Inc., after she made a huge discovery: the back of the label.
Now, in her defense, there is a commercial I saw that claims that Nutella has 10 g. of fat in a serving, which is not true (it has 11). But you ask yourself: Is a lawsuit really necessary???
Well, nonetheless, Ferraro USA Inc., in a settlement proposed in court, will pay a whopping $3,050,000, in which $2,500,000 will be divided among consumers as angry about this as Mrs. Hohenburg obviously was.
Any person, who has bought Nutella between the dates of January 1, 2008 and February 3, 2012, may claim up to 5 bottles of Nutella to be reimbursed for it at $4 a can. Therefore, as a well-informed consumer, you are allowed to put forth the effort to write a formal claim to receive up to $20 back. Is this really worth it? So there were a few misconceptions. Honestly, I feel this completely pointless, but if it makes you feel better to be reimbursed for that little bit of extra fat you ate a few weeks ago, then by all means, take your $20. Let me tell you, Nutella will still be used in my brownies. (for more information, click the link below)
