Obama Awards Posthumous Medal of Honor to Heroic Vietnam War Veteran

The Medal of Honor is the highest military honor the country can give to a soldier. This Medal of Honor, however, was given 42 years late to a very well regarded veteran. Army Rifle Specialist Leslie H. Sabo is the latest to receive the highly esteemed award 42 years after his death in combat during the Vietnam War. His heroic actions saved many members of his unit, the Bravo Company, during an ambush, which ended up being the last thing he saw. It was an honorable way to go down indeed.

President Obama spoke to a crowd of thousands of soldiers, past and present, including members of Sabo's fine unit, the Bravo Company and his widow, Rose Mary Sabo-Brown. It was impossible not to feel something as she took her former husband's honor with pride. A Vietnam veteran found Sabo's files and submitted a request to the White House. No one could deny the honor in which Sabo dignified himself as a solder and a leader in an utterly brutal wartime. Congratulations. You deserved it. (for more information, link is below)
